Everything you need to know before your test

Preparing for your blood draw, how results are provided, and answers to the most common questions.

About your results

We email your results as a PIN-protected PDF, ready to be reviewed by your GP.

We do not interpret results — the document includes the laboratory's reference ranges and you can pass it on to your doctor.

Recommendations before your blood test

Fasting

For pre-operative panels and full blood counts, avoid eating for 8–12 hours before the blood draw (plain water is fine).

Hydration

Drink 1–2 glasses of still water about 30 minutes before the draw — it makes venepuncture easier and improves blood flow.

Medication

If you take regular medication (especially blood thinners), please consult your doctor. The ALEX 2.0 blood allergy test does not require stopping antihistamines.

Rest

Avoid intense physical exercise for 24 hours before your test. Rest seated for 10–15 minutes immediately before the draw.

We carry out tests from age 16 upwards.
