The journey from Edinburgh to Glasgow takes about 50 minutes by train and not much longer by car on the M8. For many patients, this is a worthwhile trade-off: one trip in exchange for tests that are hard to find or have long waiting times locally.
Why travel to Glasgow for your tests
The biggest advantage is the range of tests available. In a single blood draw, you can have basic biomarkers checked, get the advanced ALEX 2.0 allergy test covering nearly 300 allergens, and also run hormonal and metabolic panels.
The second advantage is efficiency: appointments every 20 minutes, email confirmations, and no queues. If you book an early morning slot, you can be back in Edinburgh before noon.
A well-planned visit
If you're travelling from further away, make the most of your visit. Instead of a single parameter, choose a panel or a premium package — one needle, one trip, a complete set of data.
Remember to prepare for your test: you'll need to be fasting, stay well-hydrated on your way here, and avoid alcohol the day before.
- Livingston — about 35 minutes to Glasgow by car
- Edinburgh — 50–60 minutes by train or the M8
- Falkirk & Bathgate — 30–40 minutes
- Book a 9:00–10:00 AM slot to avoid the return traffic.
Prices in pounds
Prices are the same for everyone, regardless of where you live: biomarkers from £39, packages up to £310, and the ALEX 2.0 test for £380. A mandatory £25 service fee is added to every appointment to cover the blood draw, sample handling, and shipping to the laboratory.
